Central Sports Centre in Warsaw Sports and Show Arena „COS Torwar” is a sports complex situated near the strict centre of the city, at the connection point of major transport routes. The „COS Torwar” Arena is one of the largest sports and show facilities in Warsaw and an ideal place for organizing various types of sport events, concerts, exhibitions, fairs, conferences, banquets or corporate events. On the other hand, artificial skating rink, the „COS Torwar II” Hall makes it possible to comefortably use the organized commonly available slides for Varsovians and for people from beyond the Capital of Warsaw. The skating rink meets the technical requirements of international federations.
History of the COS TORWAR ARENA
In 1953 in the capital city after a huge press campaign, and a pressure from the whole general public, at the beginning of January a decision was made: Warsaw will have its artificial skating rink which will be established in the Agrykola inter-scholl park at ul. Łazienkowska, at the place considered the best location for such a facility. This location included natural slope as a support for the audience (stands), and which was also supposed to constitute a natural shield against warm winds. An important advantage of this location was convenient connection with the Centre and vicinity of Legia team facilities.
Infrastructure
COS Torwar I - main floor of the hall with total area of more than 2000 m2; stands for more than 4806 people surrounded by spacious lobbies.
COS Torwar II - artificial skating rink: the facility meets the technical requirements of international federations. Ice floor dimensions are: 30x60 m, the audience has 640 seats to use, the choreographic room with total area of 108 m2, whitch may also serve as a gym or a conference room. The average temperature in the Hall is ca. 14 degress Celsius which makes it possible to comfortably use the organized generally available slides.
Small training hall - (area of 700 m2), equipped with whole-dimension playing fields for: volleyball, basketball, handball, football, tennis. The hall is also suitable for organization of various types of conferences, trainings or corporate events.
Conferences - in the "COS Torwar" Sports and Show Arena conferencs can be held for over 5000 participants, for those who prefer more cosy meetings, we offer the "Small Hall" which may potentially accomodate 300 people, as well as three, fully air-conditioned and equipped conference rooms, with the total area of 120 m2 having separate restaurant facilities and a large lobby in which it is possible to organize various kinds occasional events combined with catering.
